Happy day full of love. From a religious standpoint, Judaism certainly does not embrace Valentine’s Day. Too much pagan ritual, martyrdom, saints that don’t belong to our religion etc. But, commercialized Valentine’s Day gives us a warm and fuzzy version. There are roses, jewelry, chocolate, Hallmark cards – it would be hard for anyone with a beating heart to remain unaffected.
I will give you my list of wishes for my happy day full of love (feel free to pass it along to my husband).
Anything in crayon. Crayon is currently my new Monet. It is hanging everywhere – the back of my front door, my office door, the fridge, various bulletin boards, some of my walls. We decorate in crayon so why not celebrate Happy Day Full of Love in it?
Next, anything I don’t need to cook. What better way to say I love you than frozen processed food? No thoughts of trans-fats, calorie content, food pyramids – just a night free of cooking a thoughtful dinner.
There is a part of me that would like the newest most talked about book, but I will happily trade in the book for the time it would take me to read the book. That’s right, for my Happy Day Full of Love, I would like a nap. A guilt-free, no child finds his way to my bed, nap.
Anything that comes out of my children’s pockets that has been crumpled up but made in art class. I am a sucker for cute little drawings that have been forgotten and crumpled.
Also, snuggling with any of my yummy kids and reading anything written by Mo Willems. That guy can make my kids giggle in the most perfect way.
And finally expensive jewelry. (a girl’s got to dream, doesn’t she?)
