This Shabbat, you can bring your own “money” to your table.

All you’ll need are these delicious chocolate coins (we’re sure you have a few lying around after Chanukah!) to re-enact the story of Yosef and Pharaoh!

Much of this week’s Torah reading, Parshat VaYigash, describes the famine that Egypt and Canaan had to endure. At the end of the parsha the Torah describes that there was no food in the entire land, because the famine had grown exceedingly severe and the people were exhausted. At that point, Yosef collected all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan with the grain that the people were buying, and Yosef brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.
