Here are two questions that can keep your table busy in between courses!

1)   This week is Parshat Miketz and the Shabbat of Chanukah. Every year this parsha falls out during Chanukah. Why did the Rabbis who set up the annual cycle of Torah Portions work it out this way? In other words, what do Chanukah and this week’s parsha have in common? Have fun thinking of all the connections / similar themes!

2)   Joseph became the viceroy of Egypt, married a woman who was from an important family and had power that you can’t imagine! So… Why did he not “write home” and tell them he was alive? Why did he not arrange a trip to go see his father the week after he was released from prison? Why did he stay away and out of touch with his father and brothers?
